Movie Magic

A Tribute to HG Wells
HG Wells published his book First Men in the Moon in 1901. Early sci fi movies had men walking on the moon with no breathing apparatus. In 1964,a sci fi film entered the scene, and was mostly forgotten. The film:HG Wells'First Men In the Moon. Starring Edward Judd, Martha Hyer and Lionel Jeffries who are visiting our nearest celestial body. Viewing a restored version of FMITM and listening to interviews with John Landis,James Cameron & StevenSpielberg All agreeing that all movies had huge rocket ships with fins, no one could predict the design of lunar lander. Now if you watch FMITM and you will see two things, the orb that was the spaceship looks similar to recent Mars mission vehicles and the ship bounces and makes a semisoft landing on the lunar surface. The end of the film has TV’S everywhere transmitting live pictures of the moon landing. FMITM’S lunar lander had no fins, was not a gigantic spaceship, nor did it have any glitz or sparkles, in fact it resembled the one Neil Armstrong used in 1969. FMITM was right on target. Rent or buy a copy, watch this classic from 45 years ago, see for yourself just how accurate it was.
